Theme: "Freedom" (Galatians 5:1) Freedom is an essential, crucial theme in Scripture—so much so that, in summarizing the climactic and cataclysmic work of Jesus Christ on the cross, Paul says in Galatians 5:1, "For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery." For what purpose did Christ live a perfectly obedient life? For what grand achievement did Jesus endure the horrors of the cross? For what great gain did Jesus resurrect from the dead? For what ultimate necessity did Jesus send His Wonderful Spirit? For freedom.
